A practical switching test
Use an ordinary conversation, such as an estimate you need to review. A useful trial should answer three questions:
- Does it return at a useful time? Choose a revisit time when Chrome will be running and online.
- Can you act without reconstructing the conversation? Add “Check whether delivery is included,” rather than just “follow up.”
- What else would you lose by switching? Check the other Right Inbox features you actually use.
Existing Right Inbox schedules do not automatically transfer. Keep them in the system that created them until resolved.
When the simpler option is enough
For one deferred incoming message, native Gmail Snooze may already be enough. For a conversation with context you want to preserve, consider OpenRang’s private notes. If the real problem is constantly looking at new mail, use Hide Inbox alongside the reminder workflow.
Keep a separate record for deadlines that must alert you while Chrome is closed. A local reminder is useful when it matches how you actually work.
